Hide Window Plus

The Hide Windows Plus application aims to help you protect your privacy by providing a means of easily hiding applications out of sight. By pressing the default Win+Esc hotkey, for example, the application will hide the active window out of sight. There will be no trace of that window on the desktop, in the taskbar, or in the system tray. Hide Windows Plus can also be configured to hide away groups of applications, should you need to hide away several windows at the same time.

To install Hide Windows Plus on your PC, you first need the 664KB installation file; downloading such a lightweight file will take little of your time. Run the aforementioned file and a setup wizard will show up. A few clicks later you will be done with the Hide Windows Plus installation process.

The only interface we can talk about as far as this application is concerned is the Settings window, which displays four buttons on its left hand side:

• Groups – set up groups of applications that will be hidden away, assign hotkeys to hide these groups, pick if you want to mute the sound and hide tray icons.
• Single Windows – assign hotkeys to hide the active window and show the last hidden window, choose if you want to mute the sound, pick if you want to hide tray icons, pick if you want to hide windows by right clicking the close button, choose if you want to prevent a hidden application from showing up.
• Additional – choose hotkeys for launching the screensaver, turning off the monitor, muting the sound, terminating hidden programs, and showing all hidden programs.
• Settings – select if you want Hide Windows Plus to run at startup, hide the Hide Windows Plus system tray icon, protect hidden programs and settings with password, add Hide command to the system menu.

The easiest way to use Hide Windows Plus is to familiarize yourself with the default hotkeys or to pick the hotkeys for the various pieces of functionality the application has to offer. Assuming you’re going to stick with the default, when you want to hide an active window out of sight, just hit Win+Esc; when you want to bring it back, hit Win+Enter. To mute the sound, hit Ctrl+Alt+U, and to run the screensaver hit Ctrl+Alt+R.

As mentioned above, you can hide the Hide Windows Plus system tray icon out of sight. Please note that this bit of functionality is not provided by the trial version.
